Square Enix showed off quite a bit of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue at Jump Festa 2015 this week. The upcoming PlayStation 4 package will combine an HD version of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance from the Nintendo 3DS and HD retoolings of Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep — A Fragmentary Passage and Kingdom Hearts x [chi] Back Cover.
Yeah, those titles are a lot to swallow if you are not a fan already.
The big news of the week, though, is that tucked away in the second half of Square Enix’s trailer is where you’ll find a whole bunch of new Kingdom Hearts III footage beginning at the 3:30 mark. And yeah, it looks really good with so much attention to detail put in the colors and different tones. The leap from the PlayStation 3 HD Remasters to this new Kingdom Hearts III graphic engine is just astounding!
The new combat looks great, combining Sora’s classic melee swings with the Keyblade and a new targeting system that lifts its mechanic straight from the Panzer Dragoon and Zone of the Enders franchises of all inspirations…
Kingdom Hearts III will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No release date just yet. Kingdom Hearts: Final Chapter Prologue will also be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
