Guess the Phone: Where have I seen this design before?

Do you think less of a phone just because it looks similar to another? In what way does this similarity influence how you feel before you even pick it up? Is it not better to keep an open mind instead? Our beliefs and attitudes were challenged when this device was unveiled, and many people were quick to write it off based on looks alone. But it turned out there was a lot to like outside of that familiar design.

I get why this device was so controversial, and why people criticized its looks. There’s no arguing it was clearly influenced by a more popular counterpart; you can also argue that said counterpart was influenced by the same company’s earlier devices. It’s a crazy cycle.

Even though we liked this phone, it’s easy to see why it was doomed from the beginning. That’s a bummer, too, because¬†looking back, it really did have a lot to offer. Not only did it provide a great experience, but the company that made some big promises in terms of future support. Whether it’ll follow through is another matter.

Did any of you pick this phone up? What are your overall thoughts? Were you able to overcome the fact that its design wasn’t exactly original? (What design is these days?)

Last week’s Guess the Phone was the OnePlus X.
