“Millions of fans will be introduced today to the next generation of Star Wars storytelling, and Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition is the only game where they can step into iconic moments from Star Wars: The Force Awakens film,” said John Blackburn, SVP and General Manager, Disney Infinity. “The Force Awakens Play Set completes the Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars experience, allowing fans to play as characters and explore stories from across the entire Star Wars saga.”

In addition to the characters native to Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set, fans will be able to unlock and play with all Star Wars characters from Star Wars Twilight of the Republic and Star Wars Rise Against The Empire, as well as the Star Wars Rebels™ characters.

You can finally get your hands on the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set for Disney Infinity 3.0 starting today. The play set matches perfectly with the new characters, Rey and Finn, from The Force Awakens. Additionally, you can also pick up Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron that you can play with across all the Disney Infinity Star Wars play sets.

I had a chance to play with this new play set and I must say the scenes and characters are pretty well matched to the film. The scenes from Jakku or from Han Solo’s freighter are probably my favorite. Each Character has its own special powers and abilities.  It appears that Finn has the most powerful range, Rey is an expert scavenger and has the ability to use her staff or her blaster. Kylo Ren is powerful but his speed is probably what sets him apart. Most of the voices in this playset are actually voiced by the actual actors from the film as well, lending to the authenticity of the game.

Disney also did a great job mimicking the vehicle looks and abilities. It even went so far to recreate vehicles you only see briefly on screen in The Force Awakens, like the quad jumper.

Disney Infinity games have always been an interesting concept for its open world abilities, but in these new Star Wars play sets the team at Avalanche has done so much work to be authentic to the franchise.  Apparently key members of the dev team had been given the script to The Force Awakens about a year and a half ago. Talk about keeping a secret.

The original trilogy and Twilight of the Republic play sets are already out and you mix and match all those characters across all the Disney Infinity Star Wars play sets.  You can pick up The Force Awakens play set and additional characters starting today.
