Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen PC trailer – Is Capcom making the best PC ports?

by Ron Duwell | December 18, 2015

Capcom has released a trailer for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on the PC, and it looks good. Really good! I mean, so good that it proves Capcom has really stepped up its game for pleasing the PC crowd.

Ten years ago, one merely need point to something like Onimusha 3, Devil May Cry 3, or the first Resident Evil 4 attempt to prove that Capcom wasn’t up to snuff on the PC scene. In more recent times, we’ve seen marvelous versions of Bionic Commando, Devil May Cry 4, Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising 2, and all the modern Resident Evil games, especially Resident Evil 5, that have held up well under scrutiny.

On the other hand, we can’t go a month without hearing about some monstrous AAA budget game performing worse on PC than it does on consoles. Assassin’s Creed and Batman: Arkham Asylum come to mind for the 2015 pick of the litter, and it’s actually the Western studios which have not been as reliable as of late.

Whatever the case, while the world crumbles around it, it’s really easy to see that Capcom has taken huge leaps by learning from its past and becoming a crowd pleaser once again. Its games might be smaller and more direct that the big sandboxes of today, but I will always choose a brilliant smaller game over a broken sandbox. Maybe we’ll be seeing some of Capcom’s other wonderful games get a similarly brilliant overhaul in the near future… more specifically the Onimusha games.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen launches for PC on Jan. 26, 2016 for $29.99.
