All of this talk about Hideo Kojima striking it off on his own has prompted me to check up on another famous former Konami employee, former-Castlevania Producer Koji Igarashi. It’s surprising, but Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night wrapped up its Kickstarter just earlier this year. Seriously, so much has happened this year from Shenmue III to Final Fantasy VII Remake and The Last Guardian and both Dragon Quest VII and XI, I could have sworn this all happened back in 2014.
Luckily for me, the Kickstarter just updated itself a few days ago with a glance at the graphics engine and color shaders. In them, we get to see the insides of the castle and our first look at protagonist Miriam’s character model. Not bad! The character model is fabulous, but the backgrounds could use a bit more details in between the cracks.
Koji Igarashi had this to say about the shaders, ever the charming personality.
This shader contains lighting, fog, and character brightness effects designed to give it a 2D look. I feel bad about how much I demanded from the development team!
It’s nice to see Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is shaping up nicely after the first seven months. There is still plenty of time to go with a scheduled release for the PC, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Wii U and Xbox One in March 2017.
