Just Cause 3 is getting patched this week to improve the absurd load times

Everything about Just Cause 3 is absurd. The explosions, the gunfights, the stunts, and even the loading times. Developer Avalanche Studios is taking care of that last one, thankfully, with a patch set to release this week.

The patch will upgrade the game to version 1.02 and will clock in at a relatively svelte 132 MB. Here’s what it’ll address, per the official site:

Significantly improved loading times
Optimizations to online stats
General stability fixes
Fixed an issue related to challenges, wherein vehicles sometimes disappeared when starting a challenge
Fixed issues related to screen resizing and closing the game window before the game has fully started up [PC ONLY]

The patch will hit consoles in the next couple days and PC at the end of the week.

The developer also took a moment in this post to address some player concerns. Cutscenes are skippable by holding the B button or by pausing the game and selecting ‘Skip’ from there.

Players have also complained about two features seemingly absent from the game – a sprint button and a crouch option. Those, says Avalanche, were intentional because Rico has a grappling hook, a wingsuit, and all kinds of other tools to get him up into the air where he’s much more dangerous and tougher to hit. I can’t help but think of the classic Bionic Commando‘s lack of a jump button.

Avalanche doesn’t say just how much those load times will improve, but any improvement should be welcome.
