Dark Souls III’s PC requirements revealed, not quite as brutal as the game itself

Dark Souls III hits PC the same day as consoles, a first for the series. That’s awesome! What kind of PC does it take to dive into the latest chapter in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s demanding action series?

It’s actually not that bad compared to some recent games.

The minimum requirements head straight for the low end, with the exception of the 50GB download:

  • OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 64 bit
  • Processor: AMD A8 3870 3.6 Ghz or Intel Core i3 2100 3.1Ghz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 / ATI Radeon TM HD 6870
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 50 GB available space

The recommended requirements are a bit beefier, but still quite a bit less demanding than games like Fallout 4, The Witcher 3: Wild Huntand Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain:

  • OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 64 bit
  • Processor: AMD FX 8150 3.6 GHz or Intel Core i7 2600 3.4 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 750, ATI Radeon HD 7850
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 50 GB available space

A four year old computer can handle Dark Souls III based on those specs, and a top of the line computer from a couple years ago will run it easily. Not bad.
