Google Now on Tap gets flight, tracking info and more

Have a phone with Android Marshmallow? We have some good news for you. Google introduced even more features for Google Now on Tap, its powerful new search feature built right into Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Now, when you receive a text from a friend with a flight number, you can simply hold the home button to activate Now on Tap. The feature will scour the Web in a fraction of a second and bring you information on that flight, without any need for you to open the browser and manually type in the flight number. A similar option is also available for tracking packages – you’ll be able to call on Now on Tap right from a confirmation email to automatically search the tracking number.

A new sharing feature and support for related articles while reading news are also included, as is support for Italian, Russian, Korean, Spanish, German and French languages.

Google says the new features should be rolling out “over the coming days” so you might not see them immediately. The flight and package trackers seem particularly useful, especially as we continue to move through the holidays.
