Gear S2 launches for $100 with AT&T’s NumberSync

The Gear S2 is a beautiful smartwatch, but at $300 it’s not exactly cheap. Thankfully, AT&T is now offering a pretty sweet deal on the device when you pair it with the carrier’s NumberSync service¬†and a contract.

NumberSync, for anyone who missed the announcement back in October, lets you share a single phone number over multiple devices. That makes it possible to text and call from the same number whether you’re using your smartphone or a wearable device. The service operates over AT&T’s wireless network, meaning your phone doesn’t need to be in Bluetooth range or even turned on for you to take calls or receive notifications on your wrist.

You’ll need to sign a two-year contract with AT&T for that $99 deal. That¬†means adding the device to your current plan for an extra $10 per month, so you’ll actually end up paying full price in the long run.

NumberSync seems like a pretty cool service, though we haven’t had a chance to try it out just yet. The Gear S2 is actually the first device to take advantage of it and, for $100 with a contract, it seems like a pretty compelling offer.
