Google Play Movies & TV for iOS now streams to Apple TV

Google has updated its Play Movies & TV app for iOS to give users the ability to stream content to Apple TV via AirPlay. The update also enables streaming over a cellular connection so that you don’t have to have Wi-Fi connectivity to watch video on the go.

Play Movies & TV has long supported Chromecast, allowing iPhone and iPad users to stream content to their HDTV using Google’s own dongle — but support for Apple’s set-top box was missing. That changes with the app’s latest update, which finally embraces AirPlay for the first time.

Note, however, that streaming is only available on the new, fourth-generation Apple TV, and on the third-generation device running Apple TV Software 7.0 or above.

Another major improvement in this release is the ability to stream content over 3G and 4G connections. Google allowed us to download content for offline viewing using mobile data before, but not stream it. Now you can enable cellular streaming to enjoy your favorite movies and TV shows anywhere.

This update also makes some user interface improvements, and adds a “Recommended by Play” section, where you can find new titles based on your viewing history and browsing interests. You can download it from the App Store now by following the source link below.
