Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7 has been dominating the rumor mill, but LG could be prepping its own flagship phone for early 2016. The G5 is shaping up to be a real beast according to one Weibo tipster.
The latest leak out of China reveals some potential specs for the LG G5. The device will apparently pack a 5.6-inch display with a 2K resolution, putting it firmly in phablet territory. It may also sport a Snapdragon 820 chip along with two different biometric scanners: a fingerprint reader and an iris scanner.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors that the LG G5 could feature new eye-scanning technology. The extra security could apparently come from IRIENCE, a smaller Korean firm. According to another recent report the device may also sport an all-metal design following the steel and silicon build of the LG V10.
The same tipster also claims LG plans to launch the G5 in early February. That could give the company a slight edge over Samsung, which is expected to unveil the Galaxy S7 later that month at Mobile World Congress.
