Moto X Pure Android Marshmallow update arrives

Motorola is typically pretty good about pushing out quick Android updates, and thankfully that hasn’t changed. The company released Android 6.0 Marshmallow to several carrier versions of the Moto X Pure Edition this week, and revealed its latest upgrade roadmap.

If you’re using the Moto X Pure Edition on Sprint, Verizon or U.S. Cellular’s network you should be able to grab the update now. Motorola says it’s also started soak tests on the Moto X Play in Brazil and India, along with the Brazilian version of the Moto X Force.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow adds a bunch of new features, including Doze Mode, Now on Tap, Android Pay, Direct Share, and better volume controls. Motorola is also using the opportunity to remove several of its own software enhancements. Moto Assist and Motorola Migrate have become redundant and won’t be included in the new update.

Finally, Motorola offered an updated list of devices slated to get Android 6.0. Here’s the full lineup of phones, though it could be a while before the company makes its way through the entire list.
