Max Payne

He’s got one of gaming’s most memorable mugs, and you certainly spend a lot of time looking at it in slow-motion. Rockstar’s PlayStation 2 classic Max Payne has been rated for a PlayStation 4 release by the ESRB, hinting that the game will be up next in getting support from the modern day console.

It makes sense too since Rockstar already owns three of the eight real-estate spots in the PlayStation 2 library with all three Grand Theft Auto games.

Max Payne is a wonderful game, and I highly recommend you check it out on Steam. Its biggest problems come from the PlayStation 2 port, which isn’t really up to standards when it comes to pumping out quality graphics. A lot of the detail had to be sacrificed in order to get it running on Sony’s limited hardware, and it’s easily the weakest of the three versions.

I wonder if Sony’s enhanced emulation can straighten those issues out.

We’re still waiting for a whole host of PlayStation 2 games, and I think I would rather go back and play something like Parappa the Rapper 2 or Ape Escape 2 on the PlayStation 4 simply because a superior version of Max Payne is already out there. Don’t let this bullet-time cop leapfrog to the front of the line, even if that means an easier headshot for him.

We’ll wait for official confirmationtaion from Rockstar or Sony to call this one.
