It’s become an increasingly popular practice, especially in movies based on comics. Buried beneath a movie’s credits, filmmakers include an extra scene or two, often times meant to tease what’s to come. The most recent example is Ant-Man, which included a look at Captain America and Falcon with Winter Soldier; that was used as a setup for Captain America: Civil War, and we actually saw that very scene in the movie’s first trailer.
With multiple Star Wars movies set to come out over the next few years, does that mean we’ll see something attached to The Force Awakens? Don’t count on it.
According to director J.J. Abrams, there is no mid- or post-credits scene attached to the new Star Wars, which means you can leave the theater without anxiously waiting for a surprise to pop up. Now, we can’t guarantee you won’t be stuck to your seat in amazement of The Force Awakens anyway. But don’t expect Disney to tease Episode VIII, or even Star Wars: Rogue One, which is the first spin-off coming next December.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18.
