Day of the Tentacle Remastered gameplay debut

When it comes to classic point-and-click adventures, you’d be hard pressed to find a more quality title than Day of the Tentacle. Tim Schaffer’s debut project as a project co-lead encapsulates everything fans once loved about the genre: a lot of humor, color graphics, tricky but not-overly obtuse puzzles, and great voice acting. Now that the genre is back in fashion, DoubleFine is doing everyone a favor by giving this masterpiece a second chance.

At the PlayStation Experience this past weekend, DoubleFine showed off its remaster’s gameplay for the first time. Day of the Tentacle has always been praised for looking like an interactive cartoon, but the new remaster actually has the graphical fidelity to back that statement up. It’s much more loyal to the original graphics than the two Monkey Island remasters, and those who like the classic pixelated look can also swap back and forth with that if they want.

Day of the Tentacle is a fantastic romp through time and one of the best written games ever made, loaded with humor and silly references to history and other classic LucasArts titles. This is a cult-classic fans should check out again and newcomers should definitely enjoy for the first time.

It will be released in March for the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC.
