The first trailer for Netflix’s highly anticipated sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was released on Monday, giving us our first extended look at what to expect. And, yes, it features all the beauty and grace of the first film, which became famous for pushing the boundaries of choreographed fight scenes. If you haven’t seen the first film, I suggest you seek it out immediately.
From what we can glean from the trailers, Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) is forced back into a war when an evil warlord, Hades Dai (Jason Scott Lee), seeks to steal a legendary sword,
“The fight to keep a great warrior’s sword from an evil warlord will change them in ways they never imagined,” Netflix said in its official synopsis.
Yeoh is joined by Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Le, and Harry Shum Jr., while Woo-Ping Yuen is taking over directing duties. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is scheduled to hit Netflix and select IMAX theaters on February 26, 2016.
