Batman v Superman trailer features an exciting surprise

Following Monday’s sneak peak, the second official trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been released, and you can just feel the tension building. Watch it, and you’ll see what I mean.

Something is obviously going on between the two, and it suggests each is very aware of the other’s secret identity. How is it Bruce Wayne was able to figure out that Clark Kent is Superman? We’ll leave that one up to the imagination for now.

All we really care about at the moment is how a very angry Batman (Ben Affleck) thinks he can take on a clearly superior Superman (Henry Cavill). I mean, just look at how little affect Batman’s puny human weapons have on Superman’s super strength; he reacts like nothing is even happening. And yet, Batman doesn’t quit.

“If I wanted it, you’d be dead already,” Superman says to an overmatched Batman.

As the fighting is taking place, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) has own his motives, using the cadaver of General Zod to perform some kind of experiment, creating something… not good.

That’s when we see Wonder Woman jump into action and start doing battle with Doomsday (who reminds me of Azog from The Hobbit trilogy). So I guess those rumors were true about Wonder Woman facing off with the legendary DC villain. His arrival, and her intervention, appears to unite our heroes, ostensibly kicking off the “dawn of justice.” That shot of them at the end was enough to get the hairs raising on the back of my neck.

Is Doomsday a major part of Batman v Superman, or is he simply a side character in the larger story? We’ll find out when the film hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
