Gear S2 iPhone support inbound, it seems

Samsung’s Gear S2 already works with most Android phones. Now the company could be bringing its smartwatch to iPhone owners as well.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is currently working on a Gear Manager app for iOS. That should make it easy to sync your Gear smartwatch to your iPhone, though it’s possible you’ll be a bit limited by Apple’s platform. The Gear S2 admittedly works best on a Galaxy phone, and we assume making the leap to iOS will come with a few extra sacrifices.

It’s also unclear if Samsung is planning iOS support for the Gear S2 or for an entirely new device. It’s possible the company could already be prepping a Gear S3 that works with both Android and iPhone. Then again, rushing out an iOS version of Gear Manager for the current wearable would make it possible to compete directly with the Apple Watch even sooner.

The Gear S2 is a pretty great device with a beautiful design and a well-designed operating system. It’s already one of the best smartwatch options out there for Android fans, and hopefully Apple fans will have a chance to try it out for themselves before too long.
