Microsoft still hasn’t released its long-rumored Surface Mini tablet, though the company recently revealed that it came pretty close a few years ago. Now a new leak may have revealed the Nokia-designed mini Windows tablet that almost was.

The image comes from popular gadget leaker Even Blass. He notes that we’re looking at a tablet, but doesn’t reveal any other details. However, the device’s portrait orientation suggests it’s a smaller slate. It also sports a pretty big rear camera, along with a slot that could hold a SIM card for cellular support, microSD for expandable storage or both.
The Microsoft logo in back suggests the Mercury was in development pretty recently, though Blass seems confident it won’t ever see the light of day. It’s still possible Microsoft could release a smaller tablet at some point in the future, though we’re guessing it will look more like the rest of the company’s Surface lineup.
