Official CyanogenMod ROM in development for OnePlus 2

An official CyanogenMod ROM is in development for the OnePlus 2, giving owners another alternative to the stock OxygenOS software. Two versions — based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and Android 6.0 Marshmallow — are currently available.

One of the biggest and most unique selling points of the original OnePlus One is that it came with Cyanogen OS software pre-installed, but the latest devices in the lineup — the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X — run OnePlus’ own OxygenOS firmware instead.

Third-party CyanogenMod ROMs have been created for the OnePlus 2, but without proper support, they have their drawbacks. It now looks like that’s about to change, with OnePlus 2 software appearing on CyanogenMod’s official GitHub repository.

Both CyanogenMod 12.1 and CyanogenMod 13 software is available for the device, and although you can’t just download it and flash it on your OnePlus 2, it does mean that officially-supported CyanogenMod ROMs are on the way.

If for any reason you’re not all that into OxygenOS, then, it shouldn’t be too long before proper CyanogenMod ROMs are available as an alternative, packing all the CM features we know and love.
