Star Wars Battlefront’s first DLC is free, includes new 40-player mode

In December, the first bit of Star Wars Battlefront DLC will be offered up for free. That’s good, the game is currently shallow and needs all the extra maps and modes it can get.

The DLC will include the previously announced Battle of Jakku map, a locale that features a battle occurring after the conflict on the Forest Moon of Endor. The DLC also includes Turning Point, a new 40-player game mode.

Turning point is almost like Walker Assault, except in reverse. Imperials hold bases that Rebels are trying to capture. Here’s how it’s explained on the game’s official site.

Rebels need to locate and capture one of three control points in Imperial control. The clock is ticking, but if the Rebel team succeeds with a capture additional time will be added and new control points will be available for capture. Moving through these increasingly challenging checkpoints, the ultimate goal is the Empire’s base where the final stand will take place.

Turning Point will not offer Tie Fighters and X-Wings. Instead, Imperials will make use of AT-STs while Rebels will have Speeders.

This first DLC does not have a release date yet. It’s coming in December, it’s free and it is not part of the $50 Season Pass.
