While some might say that the PlayStation TV isn’t the best investment to make at full price, I’ve still gotten plenty of mileage out of it. There isn’t any better way to play some of those PS Vita and PSP games on a big screen TV, and I do mean “some,” because not all of them are compatible.
Hint: check Sony’s compatibility list before buying!
I bought mine at $99.99 when it first launched and haven’t regretted it yet, but I have a hard time recommending it at full price if you don’t fall into that niche which likes Vita JRPGs. At $19.99 though, it’s an absolute steal! Best Buy is currently throwing a sale throughout the week to help lower stock, and you should be taking full advantage.
I admit that I don’t use many of the streaming functions of the PS TV, but in addition to playing PSP and Vita games on your television, you’ll also be able to remote play your PlayStation 4 library and watch films through all of the standard apps like Netflix.
Just remember, you’ll also need one of Sony’s infamously pricey memory cards if you want to take full advantage. The PS TV only has 1 GB of internal memory, which might allow play for some of the smaller PSP games, but not many of the Vita’s main offerings.
