Snapchat Story Explorer shows you a single moment from multiple perspectives

One of Snapchat’s best features is its Live Stories, which collects a bunch snaps focused on an event, location, or day. For example, one of the stories available to watch right now focuses on last night’s American Music Awards (which unveiled a great new Star Wars clip), letting users see the show from the perspective of Snapchat users. It’s a great way to experience an event, and in a lot of instances, it can be very educational, too.

In an effort to bring more attention to its Live Stories, Snapchat is introducing a new “Story Explorer” feature, which allows users to see similar snaps from a single moment. So, for example, if you encounter a specific theme within Live Stories, you can take a deeper dive into that theme. The video above best demonstrates how it’ll work. You can live the same moment from a number of different angles, making it much more immersive.

Snapchat revealed that the service will curate Story Explorer based on similarity of time and place, and also how its computer algorithms interpret the scene. In theory, you should be able to see Steph Curry make a game-winning three from multiple Snapchat users, rather than the Live Stories feature simply showing it once and that’s it.

Live Stories is easily the best feature of Snapchat, and the new addition seems like a great improvement. The Story Explorer update should start rolling out today.
