Amazon has released the list of TV shows and movies being added to Prime next month, and if you were hoping this year would end with a bang, you’re going to be very disappointed. There are a few obvious standouts—Interstellar and the second season of Transparent. But, otherwise, Amazon’s December catalog will be rather drab, especially considered how strong Netflix’s original content portfolio has gotten over the past few months.
There are a lot of good movies to buy—Minions, Ant-Man, Ted 2—but for the most part hardly any content is being added at all. Free Willy, Bedazzled and Stick Man aren’t exactly the type of movies that sell a service like Amazon Prime. But even the best services on the market have down months, so we’ll just consider December a wash. Just go to the theater in December to see movies like Star Wars and The Hateful Eight instead.
Right above this post are the two separate lists of content being added; one image represents what will be available to stream, and the other shows what you can buy.
