Seiko re-releases its classic “Aliens” watch

Before the Apple Watch and Android Wear, there was one futuristic watch that captured the world’s attention. Seiko’s Giugiaro 7A28-7000 boasted a unique modern design that fit right in on the set of Aliens, making the watch an instant classic in the 1980s and a hard-to-find collectors item 20 years later.

Now, the Japanese watchmaker is re-releasing the watch with two slightly altered designs in a limited edition run. If you’ve always wondered what it felt like to fight aliens in space as Sigourney Weaver, this is you chance. And it will only cost you a few hundred dollars compared to the $1,000 or so an original model still goes for on eBay.

The newly issued Seiko comes in two different versions. A slightly cheaper grey model costs ¥32,000 (roughly $260), while the black watch starts at ¥36,000 ($290). Other than the colors, there isn’t any noticeable difference between the two. Both feature that same hefty pair of chronograph buttons on the right side, with a crown between them, while the left side has been cleared completely for a slimmer look.

If you need a nice holiday present for your sci-fi obsessed friend, this is a pretty great option. Hit the source link below to order one now, but don’t wait too long, Seiko is only producing 6,000 watches in total.
