How much do you know about the greatest video game of all time? Yeah, I’ll say it. You can look high and low and around every bend, and I doubt you’ll find another game out there that accomplishes its goals so confidently. Chrono Trigger is one of the pinnacles of game development, meaning there must be a lot of secrets to its origins and inception.
Enter “Did You Know Gaming?” The popular web series offers a wealth of information on this legendary title, and, in fact, the only factoid I did not know is the very first one mentioned. Chrono Trigger was inspired by a trip to the United States. No, I did not know that, and now I do.
Other than that, I’ve absorbed every piece of information through osmosis over the years, so this video is more about waxing nostalgic for me. Lucca and Frog are still two of my favorite gaming characters of all time, Chrono Cross is still a solid game but a horrible sequel, and Chrono Trigger is now better than ever since it can be taken anywhere you go in a Nintendo DS cart.
It rarely leaves my Nintendo 3DS game slot, and all of my favorite modern JRPGs should feel humbled that they have such a masterpiece tucked away on the same device as them. You hear that Legend of Legacy! Bow your head in respect! In the land of the JRPG, Chrono Trigger is king!
