Lamborghini launched a new rear-wheel drive version of its popular Huracan on Tuesday. It sports a V10 5.2-liter engine, driving 580 hp, not too shabby though probably a bit overkill for a quick trip to pick up some groceries.
The new Huracan is 72 pounds lighter and offers a stiffer drive than the all-wheel drive version. The LP 580-2 allows drivers to do things that the all-wheel drive variant just won’t allow, like drifting and power slides. It also is a tad slower too, going from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, versus 3.2 seconds. Hardly noticeable for most drivers at that rate.
The real-wheel drive version is expected to appeal “to those wanting an even more intense driving experience” says Stephan Winkelman, president and CESO of Automobile Lamborghini. Additionally the Huracan LP 580-2 has some added design changes, including wider tires, a more aggressive front end and bigger air intakes.
It is also a bargain, compared to the $240,000 price of the all-wheel drive Huracan, coming in at just $201,100. Just $201,100.
