Fire Emblem Fates gets a release date and confusing versions

The next game in the Fire Emblem series, called Fire Emblem Fates in western territories, was announced for 3DS this spring, and after this week’s Nintendo Direct it has a release date. All the different versions of it.

Fire Emblem Fates is split up, Pokémon style, into two versions, Conquest and Birthright, sold separately. A third path, called Revelations, will be available to those who purchase one or both titles, and will cost $19.99. Each of the two versions will cost $39.99 on their own, but a special edition including all three stories will be available for $79.99, and it will include an artbook and 3DS pouch.

It’s a bit confusing at first glance, and it’ll be interesting to see how consumers respond to the split stories and special edition when the game releases in a few months on February 19, 2016.
