We’re still scratching our heads about why Activision Blizzard spent a staggering $5.9 Billion on Candy Crush Saga and its developer, King Digital Entertainment. Well, as it goes with everything else in this universe, Stephen Colbert has an answer for it.
The comedian addressed the issue during last night’s airing of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. After pointing out that $5.9 billion is more than Disney spent to buy Star Wars, Colbert recalls the recent news of Activision Blizzard opening its own film studio to make Call of Duty movies. Using this little revelation, he makes the wonderful proclamation that the studio is actually going to be making a Candy Crush Saga movie with all the modern melodrama of a Hollywood Blockbuster
…staring Liam Neeson.
And then, to everyone’s joy, Colbert fully commits and acts out his joke with a candy-coated Liam Neeson right on stage. With that candy cane sticking right through his chest, it’s like watching Qui-Gon Jinn die all over again. How wonderful! I’m not sure which I dislike more, Candy Crush Saga or the Star Wars prequels, but at least I get to experience that twice in my life now.
