Apple Music Android app now available with 3-month trial

Apple Music is finally available on Android, and you can grab it now on Google Play. The new app offers almost everything included in the original iOS version, including a three-month trial that should tempt even Apple’s toughest critics.

Apple Music for Android also includes Beats 1 and other online radio stations, hand-picked recommendations, personalized playlists and Connect, a Tumblr-style social network for following your favorite artists. The new app is missing music videos, though those should be coming soon, along with a sign-up process that’s optimized for Android devices.

The one big issue with Apple’s Android app is that it doesn’t really support the music service’s discounted family plan. To take advantage of the deal, you’ll need to sign up on a Mac or iOS device, though after that it sounds like you’ll be able to sign in to your account on Android.

Apple Music now works with any device running Android 4.3 and up. With a free trial up for grabs there’s no reason not to try it, though if you’re already committed to a competing streaming service it may not be worth the hassle of switching.
