It’s been more than a year since Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Band, offering a simple plastic fitness charger for around $15. Now the company is back with a new version that’s been upgraded on every front, but with the same low price. It’s called the Mi Band Pulse.
The Mi Band Pulse doesn’t look very different from the original, but Xiaomi says it used a new plastic material for the Pulse so it’s less likely to break. The company also included an optical heart rate sensor that it claims is just as reliable as the Apple Watch. It can even track your sleep if you wear the device overnight. The Mi Band Pulse offers an IP67 water-resistant rating and Bluetooth 4.0. It packs a small 45mAh battery, though the company says it should easily last 20 days or longer on a single charge. Xiaomi even redesigned the charging cord so it’s shorter and more compact.
The Mi Band Pulse is available in black, blue and pink. It costs 99 yuan ($15), though Xiaomi didn’t say when it will be available in most countries. The company already promised to sell its original Mi Band in the U.S. through a special online store, so hopefully this new and improved model won’t be far behind.
