Samsung’s latest Gear S2 ad is all about the digital dial

Samsung has rolled out a brand new ad for Gear S2, focusing on its unique digital dial. Titled “Dial In,” the 30-second clip showcases the dial’s various uses, as well as many of the apps and functions that owners can expect from Samsung’s latest wearable.

The Gear S2’s digital dial may be somewhat similar to the Apple Watch’s digital crown, but it’s unmatched by rival devices powered by Android Wear. It gives the Gear S2 a unique selling point, and makes it easier to navigate menus and interact with apps on a small screen.

The Gear S2’s new Tizen software has been designed to maximize that digital dial as much as possible, and as we see in the ad below, there are already a whole host of apps that support it — including Nike+ and Yelp, and Samsung’s own maps and weather apps.

Samsung gives us a glimpse at the 3G-equipped Gear S2 in this ad, which hasn’t yet been made available. As you can see, the device has the ability to make calls independently of a smartphone, which should mean that unlike the standard Gear S2, it also has a built-in speaker.
