Swery65, maker of Deadly Premonition, is taking a break from game design

Hidetaka Suehiro is sort of a legend when it comes to semi-obscure Japanese video games. Better known as Swery65, this designer is credited with Writing and Directing ridiculous titles like Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die.

Swery65 has announced that he’ll be taking a little break from the world of video game development. According to his post own the Access Games blog, he’s trying to focus on recovering from reactive hypoglycemia. Hypoclycemia is normally the result of a poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle, though it’s impossible to presume that that’s the case with Swery65. It can be recovered from with proper diligence, however, so this dev should be back.

When I recover from my illness, I’m going to do my best to make games that are better and more awesome than ever before!

That’s what I like to hear!

Look, sometimes I’m just in the mood for something weird when I play video games. SWERY always brings it in that regard, and he’s one of my favorite designers because of that fact.

While waiting for him to recover, give one of his games a shot. They’re absolutely bonkers, so just go in looking to have fun.
