Activision starts film and TV studio, announces Skylanders Academy

Activision Blizzard has launched its own film and TV studio. Titled Activision Blizzard Studios, the production company will create media based on their already massively popular franchises. Expect shows and movies from the likes of Call of DutyDestinyWarcraft, Diablo and Tony Hawk–haha, just kidding.

The first franchise getting the TV treatment from Activision Blizzard Studios is none other than Skylanders. What better for the series adored and obsessed over by kids than a new animated series? Enter Skylanders Academy.

Here’s what the studio said.

Activision Blizzard Studios’ first production will be “SkylandersTM Academy,” an animated TV series based on the award-winning Skylanders game. Currently in production under the supervision of showrunner Eric Rogers (“Futurama”), “Skylanders Academy” will feature the voices of Justin Long (“Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Ask Me Anything”) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (“Phineas and Ferb,” “High School Musical”) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”) as Eruptor and Norm Macdonald (“Saturday Night Live”) as Glumshanks. Additional voice talent includes Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz.

Yep, that’s a lot of talent for a kids show.

This new studio announcement comes just days after Activision bought Candy Crush maker King.com for $5.9 billion.

What would you like to see from Activision Blizzard Studios?
