Check out the first photo of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange

With Captain America: Civil War set to kick off Marvel’s Phase 3 early next year, you may have forgotten that the studio has another film slated for a 2016 release. That’s right: Doctor Strange is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2016—exactly a year from now—and I guess it’s only fitting that the first non-official photo of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange from the set has leaked.

It’s not much, and frankly it’s difficult to tell that the person there is even Cumberbatch (it looks more like, I don’t know, someone with hair?). The photo was snapped in Nepal, which, as others have pointed out, could mean Strange is on a journey to track down the Ancient One, who is being played by Tilda Swinton.

Little is known about how Marvel Studios plans to translate Doctor Strange for the big screen, especially since the character is so different from the other Avengers we’ve seen. Be that as it may, Ant-Man, who is another unconventional hero, made a seamless transition to Hollywood, so our hopes are high.

With filming already underway, chances are we’ll start seeing many more set photos over the coming weeks and months.
