Let’s face it: If Batman and Superman were to fight, it would be no contest. Superman is an alien being who has incredible strength, speed and the power of flight. Batman, meanwhile, uses cunning, hand-to-hand combat, and his infinite wealth to help him fight crime. So it stands to reason if Superman really wanted to, he’d be able to dispatch the Dark Knight without breaking a sweat.
So, then, how will Zack Snyder make the fight believable in next year’s movie? He addressed those concerns in a new interview with Total Film, in which Snyder revealed Batman will straight up “cheat.”
“The advantage that Batman has is the goodness of Superman; the compliance to play fair that Superman has […] Batman knows how to exploit Superman,” Snyder said.
Batman isn’t above fighting dirty, and will use whatever means necessary to gain an advantage. If that means using the goodwill of Superman as a weakness, then that’s what he’ll do. Based on what the trailers have shown us, we kind of already knew Batman would resort to fighting dirty. There have been rumors Batman would use Kryptonite, too, supplied to him by Lex Luthor, as a weapon against Superman.
We’re anxious to see how Superman will respond to Batman’s tactics. As we saw in the trailers, it looks like Superman does indeed take a beating, but is that merely for show? Or is he really getting pummeled? We’ll have to wait to find out when Batman v Superman hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
