Does life even matter between now and when Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out in December? We’re less than two months away from the movie’s release, yet it still feels like an eternity until it comes out. It’s hard to believe we’re this close; it feels like yesterday Disney released the first photo of the cast doing a reading. Yet here we are, on the cusp of what will either be the most extraordinary experience or a colossal disaster.
Man, I really hope the movie is good.
October ended on a high note, with Captain America: Civil War rumors, Suicide Squad photos, Thor news, and even Guardians of the Galaxy casting. That’s a lot of good variety, and shows that the comic book machine isn’t slowing down. In fact, beginning next year, it’s only going to crazier, with movies from Marvel Studios, Warner Bros. and Fox.
In case you missed some of the bigger stories we covered this week, you can find them at the bottom of this post.
Meet the actors voicing animals in Disney’s Zootopia
Disney has released more information about its next animated feature, Zootopia. The movie is set in a metropolis inhabited by the animal kingdom, and will focus on Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) as she attempts to crack a missing mammals case with the help of Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). Other actors lending their voice talents include Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, Jenny Slate and Alan Tudyk. Check out the pictures above to see some of the characters we’ll meet in Zootopia, which is set for a March 4, 2016 release.
The next Indiana Jones will probably star Harrison Ford
Everyone who wants Chris Pratt to be Indiana Jones might have to make due with the actor just being Peter Quill—for now. One of the franchise’s producers, Frank Marshall, said it’s unlikely we’ll see an Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford, who is now 73. While the actor is still terrific as Indy, I think everyone feels like Kingdom of the Crystal was the right time to pass on the mantle. “We have to figure this out,” Marshall said. OK, please do. Harley Quinn is trying to break free from Joker
Suicide Squad director David Ayer revealed Harley Quinn’s arc in the movie, and how she’ll try to break free of Joker’s influence and become an independent person. Ayer also said Quinn will be involved in a love triangle, with Joker and Deadshot on either side. “Harley is the biggest troublemaker, but Deadshot’s actually eyeballing her a little bit.” [ComicBookMovies]
Colossus will be close to comic character in Deadpool
According to actor Andre Tricoteux, we’ll be seeing a lot of Colossus in next year’s Deadpool movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds as the merc with a mouth. “The Colossus you’re going to see in Deadpool is very true to the original character in the comic book,” he said. Great! We’ve seen Colossus in X-Men movies before, but only briefly, kind of wasting the fan favorite. [TechTimes]
Neill Blomkamp’s Alien is on hold for now
Director Neill Blomkamp this week revealed what we all feared: His alien project is being put on hold. Following the announcement of Prometheus 2, it was always expected Blomkamp’s project would be put on the back burner. Maybe it’s being set aside so the two stories can be better aligned. For now, Blomkamp said he will move on to other projects.
alien is kinda holding/ pending prometheus 2. So I shall be working on other things… as much as I love the xeno- and Lt ripley

The Walking Dead renewed for a seventh season
This show’s popularity only grows as the seasons go on, so it’s no surprise AMC would renew the zombie show for another season. Where AMC plans to take the show in its seventh season remains to be seen. But if you’ve been following along, then you’ll know one of the show’s major characters was killed off. Why even go on after that? AMC said The Talking Dead has also been renewed.
Preacher gets its first teaser
Here’s our first look at AMC’s Preacher, which is based on the comic book series by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who are more known for their involvement in comedy, are developing the series, with Dominic Cooper in the role of Jesse Custer. AMC said it’ll release the full trailer during The Walking Dead this weekend.
Based on the trailer alone, it’s already pretty easy to get a general idea of what the plot for Batman v Superman will be. And the official synopsis further lays out how the whole film will play out: Batman will get angry with Superman, the two will fight, but eventually they’ll become best buddies. But […]
You’ll have a lot to do in November. In addition to some big movies hitting theaters—Spectre, The Hunger Games, The Good Dinosaur—you’ll also have some great content to cozy up to at home. But before you go searching through Amazon’s library of movies and TV shows, we’ve made a list of all the stuff being […]
Although we’ve already seen a lengthy trailer, people forget that Suicide Squad is still 10 months away from release. That said, Warner Bros. isn’t shying away from teasing its next big comic movie, sprinkling a ton of new details in the latest issue of Empire magazine; the focal point of the new spread, of course, […]
Disney’s formula for turning popular theme park attractions into feature length movies is going to be put to the test once again. Deadline reports Tower of Terror, a ride inspired by The Twilight Zone, is set for a dramatic retelling on the big screen, with Big Fish writer John August set to produce. This is […]
Disney has been very careful about what it shows regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with our most revealing look coming in last week’s trailer. And while we’ve seen many of the franchise’s new and old characters, we have yet to see Luke Skywalker, whose fate all these years later is still unknown. We actually […]
Alright, all you old timers. This is dating back before even me, but it might be a sentimental hit with anyone who ever played video games in a smokey arcade to the iconic beats of Thriller circa 1983. Legendary animation director Don Bluth, in collaboration with Producer Gary Goldman, is looking to get the Dragon’s Lair franchise back on […]
Thanks to the awesome Mark Hamill chatting with fans on Twitter, a bit of Star Wars trivia is making its way into the news. A lot of diehard fans have known bits and pieces of this little factoid for a long time now, but it’s still a nifty tidbit that has homages in more contemporary Star Wars […]
Marvel has officially cast the newest member of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast. After doing a wide search for the unnamed part, Marvel found the Asian performer it was after. Enter Pom Klementieff, a lesser known star. The French Canadian actress is best known for her role in Spike Lee’s lesser Oldboy remake. (For real, […]
Before Thor and Hulk team up in Thor: Ragnarok, you can bet the two will fight, just as they did in the first Avengers movie. Their buddy-buddy rivalry reminds me a lot of the one between Rocky and Apollo Creed: severely loyal to each other, but they can get on each other’s nerves. Maybe the […]
Empire showed plenty of love to the bigger names in Suicide Squad this past week, but what about the rest of the cast? Glad you asked—above are photos of the rest of the squad, including a picture of the entire crew. No Enchantress? No Joker? Sort of lends credence to the rumors we’ve been hearing about […]
Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat might not be household names, but if you are a millennial or the parent of a child born circa mid 90s, you most likely have heard their distinct growls coming from your TV over the past two decades. These two men have been the voice actors for Goku and Vegeta respectively […]
It isn’t the most stylish attire in the world, but fashion sense aside, this t-shirt shot of Captain America, which is apparently from Civil War, appears to show off the hero’s new suit. And, as many people were hoping, it sure looks like he’ll finally don the chainmail armor, which he has often worn in […]
Looking for a fresh wallpaper for your computer or mobile device? You have a few shots to choose from if you’re fan of Star Wars. Disney has released eight hi-resolution shots from the flick for the world’s consumption. Seven of the shots come from the trailers, though they’re of a higher resolution, and one looks […]
Yesterday, word spread that a relative newcomer had accepted a role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The actress was Pom Klementieff. Variety had that report, and they also had news that Marvel and Director James Gunn wanted Matthew McConaughey to play the lead villain for the sequel. McConaughey said no, though the site offers no reasoning. […]
