As sad and frustrating as the drama with Konami has been, at least they’re leaving console development on a high note.
Konami published its financial results from the first half of the 2016 fiscal year, which included the first month Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s release.
Including digital downloads, Konami says, Metal Gear Solid V has shipped 5 million copies in its first month.
Konami’s Digital Entertainment group earned $428 million in the last half year, a massive increase of last year’s $64 million.
Our gaming editor Ron loved his time with the game, and I’m still playing it nearly two months after release. All this makes me doubly sad about Konami’s decision to focus on mobile and move away from console development, but excited to see where director Hideo Kojima ends up next.
