Guardians of the Galaxy 2 sees newbie cast for role, fan theories begin

Marvel has officially cast the newest member of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast. After doing a wide search for the unnamed part, Marvel found the Asian performer it was after.

Enter Pom Klementieff, a lesser known star. The French Canadian actress is best known for her role in Spike Lee’s lesser Oldboy remake. (For real, get on Netflix and watch the Korean original. It’s an awesome movie.)

We don’t know who or, perhaps, what Klementieff will play in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but that hasn’t stopped fan theories from springing up. The community seems to think that Pom will play either Mantis or Moondragon.

First up, we have Mantis. This is who I think Klementieff will play, personally.

Mantis is an older hero, having first appeared in Avengers back in 1973. Over the years, she’s been a part of the Avengers, the West Coast Avengers and, of course, the Guardians of the Galaxy. She actually starts her run in Guardians as a Kree prisoner until she joins Star-Lord. Mantis is a martial artist, has fast healing, astral projection and can communicate through telepathy with the Cotati, an alien race in the Marvel universe.

Next we have Moondragon, another leading contender for who Klementieff might play.

Moondragon is also an older hero in the Marvel universe. She too showed up in 1973, though her first appearance was in Iron Man as Madam MacEvil (what an amazing name). It wasn’t until she hit Daredevil that same year that she was Moondragon. She’s been on the Avengers, Defenders, Infinity Watch and Guardians of the Galaxy. Moondragon is a telepath and combatant. She constantly skirts the line between hero and villain, making her an interesting character for sure.

Alright, what do you think? Any preference about which character Pom Klementieff will play? Think it’s someone else?
