Today at Sony’s Paris Games Week event, Kazunori Yamauchi came on stage to announce Gran Turismo Sport, the first appearance of the Gran Turismo series on PlayStation 4.
The focus, it looks like, will be not only the general car fetishization we’ve come to expect from the series but rather on tournament competition where players can join manufacturer clubs or represent their country in tournaments. This seems like more of a continuation of the GT Academy branch of the the series, which hasn’t been separate games so far, rather than a traditional Gran Turismo sequel.
The game will, as many have hoped, be compatible with PlayStation VR, and Yamauchi seems pretty happy with the team’s advancement in this respect so far.
The game sounds like it’s pretty far along, because beta testing is set to start in early 2016.
