If you were one of the 9.5 million players to try out Star Wars Battlefront during its recent beta period, you might be curious about the stuff that’s been shown in trailers that didn’t actually appear during that limited session. Take, for instance, the Millennium Falcon and Slave I.
Both ships have now been confirmed as Hero Vehicles, and they’re only available in the Fighter Squadron game mode. Find the ship icons on the map, and you’ll be able to pilot them the same way you’d play as Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker.
The post revealing the news from DICE indicates that playing as either the Slave I or Millennium Falcon does, in fact, make you more powerful; however, Senior Designer Björn Sundell warned players to watch themselves.
“Don’t be surprised if you suddenly spot multiple foes at your tail when piloting these ships…During playtests we’ve noticed how excited players get to be the one taking down the Millennium Falcon or Slave I. You should always keep both offence and defense in mind.”
I dig that these ships are in the game, but I’m not sure how I feel about them showing up as icons to be picked up on the map. Why aren’t the ships just parked there, ready for take off? Too vulnerable? Too much work?
Star Wars Battlefront is set to launch for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 17, 2015.
