Just in case you need reminding, Odin Sphere has always been a gorgeous game, even back when it wasn’t in HD. Now that it supports that ever important 1080p, though, it’s just a stunning game that is simply better looking than ever before.
Fans know that the resolution boost is not the most important overhaul made to the upcoming re-release Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir. While nice, it is severely dwarfed by the new and improved silky smooth framerate. The PlayStation 2 was a bit infamous for not being the most powerful of machines, and Odin Sphere came out at about the time when HD and framerates became a game’s selling point thanks to the Xbox 360.
Needless to say, the massive sprites and other resources made it run like a slideshow presentation. It’s almost a similar story to Shadow of the Colossus. And just like Shadow of the Colossus, once you put better hardware behind it, it becomes the game it was always meant to be. The PlayStation 2 might have struggled, but the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita can pull this action game off without a hitch.
No sweat. They eat games like this for breakfast!
Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir will be released in 2016 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita.
