It’s been more than a year since the Apple Watch was first unveiled, and now it’s finally headed to one of the biggest markets on earth. The device will officially launch in India on Nov. 6, according to Apple’s updated website.
India is the world’s second most populous country and boasts a rapidly growing economy, making it an obvious market for the Apple Watch. The wearable device will also arrive in the country just in time for Diwali, India’s biggest Hindu festival. The holiday marks a major shopping season, similar to Christmas in the U.S.
The Apple Watch launched in a handful of new countries this week, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the Philippines, Chile and South Africa. Cupertino likely has big plans to promote the device in India. There’s still no word on an official price, though the cheaper Apple Watch Sport could start anywhere from 24,999 to 30,000 rupees (roughly $385-$462).
The Apple Watch has already improved a lot since its initial launch. The device now runs watchOS 2, which adds Nightstand mode, native apps, new Time Lapse watch faces, third-party Complications and more. The Cupertino company also recently added new Sport options in gold and rose gold.
