AT&T on Friday began pushing the Android 5.1.1 update to the Galaxy S5. Nope, it’s not Marshmallow yet, but at least you’re getting treated to a Lollipop update. These things take time.
In addition to bringing the system to Android 5.1.1, the update also adds Android For Work, security updates and applies a fix to Ultra Power Saver mode for devices using On Device Encryption, AT&T said in its release notes. Android 5.1.1 is generally a lot less buggy than Android 5.0 and includes security and performance enhancements.
AT&T Galaxy S5 owners can apply the update by visiting Settings > About device > Software Update > Check for Updates. The update should measure about 609MB to 999MB in size, AT&T said. As always, it’s a good idea to back up your phone before getting started.
