Spotify now works on first Chromecast

by Todd Haselton | October 22, 2015

Earlier this month, Spotify made good on its promise to offer Chromecast support. It didn’t offer full support, however; instead, it allowed owners of the new Chromecast to stream music, but anyone with an older Chromecast was left out in the cold. That changes Thursday.

A Reddit user named CenterInYou recently confirmed that Spotify now works with the version 1 Chromecast. “A reboot of your Chromecast is likely needed for this to work,” the Redditor warned. The feature is only available for Spotify Premium subscribers, which means you’ll need to pay $9.99 per month for service in order to take advantage of casting your music to your television.

We’re glad to see the older Chromecast is still plenty useful. Let us know how the new feature works for you.
