Fallout 4 runs at a “solid 30 FPS” on consoles

Number munchers! The framerate results are in for Fallout 4 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and the entrenched Internet foot-soldiers of the console war won’t be able to use them as ammunition. The game will run at a “solid 30 FPS” on both machines, as confirmed by Bethesda.

The news comes from Bethesda’s Pete Hines, who was taking questions from fans on Twitter about the upcoming post-apocalyptic game.

He also advised those who want to buy the game physically on PC take care. Fallout 4’s package will include a DVD, not a blu-ray disc, and it won’t contain the entire game. You’ll still have to download most of the content through Steam, just like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

I like to think I’m not a numbers guy, but I can still remember the starry-eyed excitement of jumping from 8-bit to 16-bit as a kid. To me though, games look fine in both 30 FPS and 60 FPS, and it usually depends on the type of game as to which I prefer. If I based my experience on Fallout 3, I don’t think this is a framerate I’ll lose any sleep over. Yourself?

Fallout 4 will launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC  on Nov. 10.
