Microsoft’s top-of-the-line Surface Book with 1TB of storage and an Intel Core i7 processor is now available to pre-order from the company’s official online store — but you’ll need a spare $3,199 to claim one.
Microsoft mentioned the 1TB Surface Book option, which also has a dedicated NVIDIA GPU like the 256GB and 512GB options, during the laptop’s official unveiling earlier this month — but it wasn’t made available to pre-order when the other models were.
Now the device is available, but with a very hefty price tag of $3,199. Buyers will also have to wait until January 2016 for the device to ship, whereas the more affordable models currently ship in 5 to 6 weeks.
Although the Surface Book looks like an incredible machine with beautiful hardware, $3,199 is a lot of money for a notebook as far as this guy is concerned. To put that price tag in perspective, it’s $700 more than the high-end 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro.
In fact, for $200 less, you could buy a Mac Pro, which offers insane specifications like an Intel Xeon E5 processor, 12GB of RAM, and dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs with 2GB of VRAM each. You can also get it delivered to your door within just a few days.
If you’re a Windows 10 fan, though, and you want the very best available right now, then go claim your 1TB Surface Book from the Microsoft Store now before that shipping date slips even further.
