Uber on Wednesday announced that its new service, UberRUSH, is now officially live in San Francisco, Chicago and New York City. UberRUSH allows customers to order goods from local businesses and have them delivered the same day, sometimes even within minutes of ordering.
“Blockheads, Indie Fresh, Sam & Lex, and hundreds of other local businesses are already using UberRUSH to make faster, cheaper, and more reliable deliveries,” Uber said, referencing its early testing of the service. “With help from our business platform partners Shopify, Clover, ChowNow, Bigcommerce and BloomNetas well as local on-demand ordering platforms like delivery.com, millions of owners can integrate on-demand delivery into their businesses.”
UberRUSH is similar to services such as Postmates, which also offers on-demand delivery services in New York San Francisco, and Chicago, in addition to Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. Uber is pushing its service as a way for companies to save money and to expand businesses to new areas that might otherwise have been unreachable.
To use UberRUSH, a business simply needs to offer it as an option to customers and, once synced up with Uber, the business will be able to call upon nearby drivers to deliver packages.
