Rocket League getting Back to the Future DeLorean on Oct. 21

Oct. 21, 2015 is a day that lives in the brains of cinephiles around the globe. This is the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to in Back to the Future Part II, and Rocket League has decided to lead the video game world’s celebrations. Even though it has already proven that it is the coolest indie release of the year, it’s about to get even better with one of the world’s most recognizable cars.

That’s right. For $1.99, you’ll be able to buy the Back to the Future DeLorean time machine in Rocket League. No, the car does not fly any better than the others in the game, but we don’t need it to be anything more than a fun cosmetic upgrade.

Truth be told, we used to fantasize and joke about having the DeLorean Time Machine in our game months before it even came out. We were all such huge Back to the Future fans here at Psyonix, that it was one of the few “Holy Grails” we had hoped for besides having a hit game. The fact that we’re getting both of those “best-case scenarios” in the same year is an amazing accomplishment for us, they’re things we’ll never forget!

Remember, you can pick up the DeLorean in the “Back to the Future Car Pack” for $1.99 on Oct. 21. Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.
