PT-inspired horror title Allison Road cancels Kickstarter for more traditional funding

Allison Road, the horror title inspired by the ill-fated P.T., took to Kickstarter recently to gather funds. The team has now cancelled the campaign, but not for the usual reason. Instead of killing it due to a lack of interest, they’ve actually found more traditional funding.

Team 17, the developer behind the Worms series, has started publishing other developers’ games in recent years, like the prison sim The Escapists, and one of the next games on their list will be Allison Road.

Developer Lilith said via a Kickstarter update that they “have decided to withdraw the Kickstarter campaign to allow [them] to commit 100 percent to an opportunity that will give us the chance as a team to create the best game possible.”

“As a newly founded studio, we’ve been completely overwhelmed by your encouragement and huge interest in Allison Road and we’d love to thank each and every one of you for all of the amazing support you have given us during our Kickstarter campaign and beyond. Really incredibly appreciated.”

With that said, the Kickstarter wasn’t doing amazingly – they had accumulated about 60 percent of the necessary funds with just a week left on the campaign. It wasn’t doomed by any means, but the more traditional publishing route should serve them better both in terms of funding and focus. The team wants to find ways to keep the community involved, but for now they “will be going very quite for a while.”

The game is intended for a late 2016 release on PC, with ports to other platforms to follow.
